SUBSTANCE: invention relates to improved compositions of surfactants. Described is a composition of a surfactant containing alkylaryl sulphonate molecules, wherein more than 30 wt% alkylaryl sulphonate in surfactant composition is one or more types of molecules with formula: [R-X-Ar(SO₃)^-]_a[Mⁿ⁺]_b, where X is a linear acyclic aliphatic hydrocarbyl chain; R is bound to a non-terminal carbon atom of X and is selected from H and C1, C2 and C3 alkyl groups; X and R together contain 10 carbon atoms; Ar is a phenyl group; M is a cation; n is selected from 1, 2 and 3; and a and b are chosen so that alkylaryl sulphonate molecule is electrically neutral, wherein more than 20 wt% alkylaryl molecules in surfactant composition contain R, which is a methyl group, and more than 40 wt% of alkylaryl sulphonate molecules in surfactant composition contain a phenyl group, attached to carbon atom, which is bound to one of two terminal carbon atoms of X (beta-position in hydrocarbyl chain X).

EFFECT: technical result is providing novel surfactant compositions which have good solubility, easy biodegradability, resistance against hard water good physical and process properties.
