FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a continuous method for dehydrating a carbohydrate-containing composition which can be used in chemical industry. Disclosed method includes: i) providing a composition containing at least one mono-and/or oligosaccharide, at least one ionic liquid, selected from 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazole chloride, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazole methanesulphonate, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole chloride, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole methanesulphonate, methylimidazole chloride, methylimidazole hydrogensulphate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazole hydrogensulphate, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole hydrogensulphate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazole acetate and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole acetate, and at least one solvent with boiling point, not higher than 120 °C, at pressure of 1013 mbar, selected from water and a mixture of water and at least one water-soluble organic solvent, wherein weight ratio of ionic liquid and solvent ranges from 99.5:0.5 to 50:50, ii) loading said composition into an evaporator, where it is subjected to reaction and evaporation at temperature in range from 100 to 300 °C and pressure of not more than 500 mbar, iii) extraction from evaporator of waste gases, containing products of dehydration, and waste liquids, containing at least one ionic liquid, iv) condensation of waste gases with subsequent extraction of product of dehydration.

EFFECT: novel efficient method of processing of carbohydrates.
