FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the ophthalmology and designed for the brachytherapy of the uveal melanoma. An ophthalmic applicator is located on the surface of the sclera in projection of the lower base of a tumor. An annular filter of metal-polymer nanocomposite with the thickness of 0.5 mm reducing the beta-radiation of the ophthalmic applicator by 2 times is located between the ophthalmic applicator and the surface of the sclera. The outer diameter of the annular filter is equal to the outer diameter of the ophthalmic applicator. The inner diameter of the annular filter is equal to a difference between the diameters of the lower and the upper bases of the uveal melanoma.
EFFECT: method allows significant reducing of the radiation-absorbed dose in the sclera at maintaining of the radical tumor radiation-absorbed dose on the "tip" of a tumor, thus, preventing post-radiation complications.
