SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell or solid oxide fuel cell and a method for operation thereof. Solid oxide fuel cell comprises a) a plurality of cathode-anode-electrolyte (CAE) units (5), each CAE unit (5) comprising first electrode (51) for an oxidizing agent, second electrode (53) for a combustible gas, and solid electrolyte (52) between first electrode (51) and second electrode (52), and b) metal interconnect (40) between CAE units (5), interconnect (40) including: first gas distribution element (10), comprising gas distribution structure (11) for combustible gas, wherein first gas distribution element (10) is in contact with second electrode (53) of CAE unit (5), and second gas distribution element (4), comprising channels (20a) for oxidizing agent and comprising separate channels (20b) for a tempering fluid, wherein channels (20a) for oxidizing agent are in contact with first electrode (51) of an adjacent CAE unit (5), and first gas distribution element (10) and second gas distribution element (4) being electrically connected.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of fuel element due to use of tight inter-unit connections, providing improved internal heat exchange, is technical result of invention.
