SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to geared transmissions for movement propulsion. Transmission with smoothly varying gear ratio beginning from zero and with displaced external base of the universal self-centering system is based on using of the universal self-centering system. The universal self-centering system includes internal and external bases equipped with rolling elements and rotation turnstiles arranged on them. Rolling elements and turnstiles are serially connected around each other with the aid of rope, belt or chain. Dynamic property of the universal self-centering system is opportunity of combined rotation of bases upon misalignment of rotational axes of bases. If torque takes effect on one of bases, then it is transferred of another base with the aid of rope, belt or chain to rolling elements and turnstiles. This torque is transferred to driven shaft. Gear ration is varied smoothly and begins from zero value.
EFFECT: transmission with smoothly varying gear ratio, which expands range of gear-ratio variation.
