SUBSTANCE: method of creating a mechanical transmission with a continuously variable transmission ratio with the lowest value of zero, based on the use of the multipurpose self-centering system. The multipurpose self-centering system comprises an inner and outer base with the rollers or sprocket rotation located on them. The rollers or sprockets are connected in series between a closed rope, belt or chain. The dynamic properties of the multipurpose self-centering system are that it is possible to co-rotate with the bases do not match the axes of rotation of the bases. If one of the bases operating torque, it is transferred to a rope, belt or chain on the rollers or other base asterisks. This torque is transmitted to the driven shaft. The gear ratio changes smoothly and begins with zero.
