FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: processing of the starting material is performed with the acid followed by calcination. Strontium hydroxide octahydrate is used as a strontium-containing compound. Deposition of strontium formate dihydrate is carried out with formic acid taken from 10 % mass excess at heating. Dedicated strontium formate dihydrate is subjected to, at least, one recrystallization followed by calcination at 600°C under the nitrogen atmosphere for an hour to prepair the desired product - strontium carbonate.
EFFECT: simplification of the process for obtaining high-purity strontium carbonate with a low content of barium, and the exclusion of using hazardous reagents.
