FIELD: physics, measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement and can be used to investigate mechanical characteristics of materials of components and structures. Method comprises indentation of the deformed material of an article under a load F1, performing second indentation of the deformed material of the article under a load F2, wherein F2>F1, and then twice indenting the non-deformed material of the article under the same loads. All indentations are performed with a spherical indenter. Strain hardening parameters for the deformed and non-deformed material are determined, based on which true ultimate uniform deformation values are calculated for the non-deformed and deformed material of the article, the difference of which is used to determine strain intensity in the deformed material, and true tensile strength values are calculated for the deformed and non-deformed material of the article, based on the difference of which stress intensity in the deformed material is determined.
EFFECT: invention reduces labour input and material input, and widens functional capabilities of the method.
