SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an amine-containing polymer, a pharmaceutical composition for lowering blood cholesterol, as well as to use of amine-containing polymer and pharmaceutical composition. Amine-containing polymer contains repeating units obtained by polymerisation of amine-containing monomer of formula (2) and cross-linking monomer. In amine-containing monomer R₂ is independently C₂-C₈ alkylene or C₂-C₈ alkylene, where one or more groups -CH₂ an alkylene group substituted with at least one amide functional group and R₃ is C₂-C₁₂ alkylene, arylene, diformylheterocyclic group or C₂-C₈ alkylene, where one or more groups -CH₂ an alkylene group substituted with amide, carbonyl, ether group, ester group, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic functional group. Cross-linking monomer is guanidine, guanidine salt, compound of formula X-R₁-X, or combination thereof, where each X is independently a leaving group, R₁ is C₈-C₁₆ alkylene or C₅-C₅₀ alkylene, where one or more groups -CH₂ an alkylene group substituted with amide, carbonyl, ether group, ester group, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic functional group, or one or more groups -CH₂ an alkylene group substituted with hydroxyl. Pharmaceutical composition for lowering blood cholesterol comprises said amine-containing polymer and a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant. Amine-containing polymer and a pharmaceutical composition are used for lowering LDL-cholesterol level in serum in an animal.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain amine-containing polymers and their compositions, effectively binding and removal of bile acid salt from gastrointestinal tract, and treating hypercholesteremia, diabetes, itching, irritable colon syndrome with diarrhoea, malabsorption of bile acid.
