SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nutritional compositions for premature babies and/or to low birth weight infants. Nutritional composition in form of a mixture for premature infants contains 1.5 wt% to 20 wt% glutamine in terms of dry mass of mixture and protein in such a quantity that glutamine is equal to 12 wt% to 80 wt% in terms of total protein. Protein provides from 12 to 30% of total caloric value of mixture. Mixture additionally contains 0.05 wt% to 20 wt% non-digestible oligosaccharide in terms of dry mass of mixture. Disclosed is an additive based on glutamine in form of powder, containing at least 50 wt% glutamine in form of free glutamine, glutamine dipeptide and/or glutamine tripeptide in terms of total protein and non-digestible oligosaccharides, selected from a group consisting of galacto-oligosaccharides and fructo-oligosaccharides.
EFFECT: disclosed is use of glutamine-containing nutritional composition for providing nutrition to low birth weight and/or preterm infants in order to increase volume and/or mass and improve growth of volume and/or mass of brain; increase volume or mass and improve growth of volume and/or mass of white matter, brain stem, hippocampus.
