FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention provides a method of hydroprocessing hydrocarbons in liquid full reactors with one or more independent liquid recycle streams. Process operates as a liquid-full process, wherein all of hydrogen dissolves in liquid phase and one or more of recycle streams may actually be zero. Method of hydroprocessing hydrocarbon feed involves: (a) providing two or more reaction stages disposed in sequence and in liquid communication, wherein each reaction stage contains at least one catalyst bed, and each catalyst bed contains at least one catalyst; (b) contacting feed with (i) a diluent and (ii) hydrogen, to produce a feed/diluent/hydrogen mixture, wherein hydrogen is dissolved in feed/diluent/hydrogen mixture; (c) contacting feed/diluent/hydrogen mixture with a first catalyst in a first reaction stage, to produce a first product effluent; (d) recycling a portion of first product effluent as a first recycle stream for use in diluent in step (b) (i) at a first recycle ratio of from about 0.1 to about 10; (d') optionally having one or more flowing reaction stages between first reaction stage and last reaction stage, wherein stage (d') comprises (i) providing previous effluent product, which is an effluent product from preceding reaction stage, at current reaction stage; (ii) optional contacting of previous effluent product with hydrogen; (iii) optional contacting of previous effluent product with current recycle stream; (iv) contacting previous effluent product with current catalyst to obtain current effluent product; (v) optionally recycling part of current effluent in form of current recycle flow at current recycle ratio from 0.1 to 10; and (vi) feeding current effluent product to next reaction stage; (e) contacting at least part of effluent product from reaction stage, preceding final reaction stage, and, optionally, hydrogen, with final catalyst at final reaction stage for production of final effluent product; wherein each contacting stage (c), optionally stage (d') (iv), and (e), is carried out in liquid full reactor conditions, and where recycle ratio at reaction stage may not be greater than recycle ratio at previous reaction stage, and where final stage reaction does not include recycle flow. Hydrocarbons can be converted in a method for producing liquid products, such as pure fuel with several required characteristics.
EFFECT: hydroprocessing of hydrocarbons.
