FIELD: oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to collection of a lighter fraction floatable liquid from heavier fraction liquid, such as a lighter fraction floating oil from a heavier fraction water, wherein apparatus includes: a floatable collecting container and a cover placed above collecting container leaving a continuous passage slot free, wherein opening of passage slot is adjustable by an inlet adjustment ring. Invention also provides a method of controlling said apparatus, including following process steps: placing claimed apparatus in heavier fraction liquid; moving an inlet adjustment ring relative to collecting container and cover to a position wherein height of adjustment ring is adjusted to level of lighter fraction floatable liquid; removing lighter fraction from apparatus to a lighter fraction storage by pumping it out of apparatus and removing heavier fraction liquid from apparatus by returning it to outside of apparatus.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cleaning.
