FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: power conversion device converts three-phase AC power into DC power via the two-arm PWM-modulation control, and comprises the main circuit (1), which consists of a plurality of switching elements connected therein by the bridge circuit; the voltage command generating unit (2) which generates a voltage command value for the main circuit (1); the current detection unit (3), which detects at least one of the output currents of the main circuit (1); the power factor calculating unit (4), which calculates a power factor based on the output current and the voltage command value; the carrier signal forming unit (5), which generates a carrier signal with the frequency corresponding to the power factor; and the PWM-signal forming unit (6), which compares the voltage command value and the carrier signal for forming a PWM signal which controls the switching of the switching elements.

EFFECT: implementation of power conversion by means of the two-arm PWM-modulation control with high versatility, which can weaken the restrictions on the power factor and can effectively use its capabilities regardless of the power factor.
