FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive treatment. Method of producing abrasive particles involves preparing a liquid solution, including non-colloidal solid particles and liquid binder, formation of at least part of liquid solution into moulded bodies in contact with a substrate, at least partial drying of moulded bodies to provide molded abrasive precursor particles, separation of at least part of moulded abrasive precursor particles from substrate and conversion of at least part of moulded abrasive precursor particles into moulded abrasive particles. Moulded abrasive particles include alpha-alumina with average size of crystal grain 0.8–8 mcm and alpha-alumina has apparent density, which is at least 92 % of real density. Every moulded abrasive particle has a corresponding surface, including a plurality of smooth sides forming at least four vertices. Also invented are moulded abrasive particles, abrasive articles comprising said particles, and methods of grinding.
EFFECT: higher grinding characteristics.
