FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is implemented by white phosphorus oxidation to obtain phosphorus pentoxide with subsequent hydration, at that, the sludge-contaminated white phosphorus is placed into the reaction chamber of a three-chamber cell, the electrodes are supplied with constant electric current resulting from water electrolysis, oxygen oxidizes white phosphorus to phosphorus pentoxide absorbed by water to form phosphoric acid, at that, the sludge is deposited in the anode chamber of the electrolytic cell, the cell is automatically disconnected from the mains after complete oxidation of phosphorus.
EFFECT: disposal of sludge-contaminated phosphorus, phosphoric acid production in a single unit, and prevention of phosphorus pentoxide loss with emissions into the atmosphere.
