SUBSTANCE: image forming device with reduced power consumption, having a plurality of the operating modes, comprises a communication interface unit, a functional unit and a controller including the main CPU and the auxiliary CPU. The main CPU controls the functional unit in the normal mode. The auxiliary CPU performs authentication of the external device, when an job command is received from the external device in the power saving mode. The auxiliary CPU performs authentication by comparing the address information of the external device, that transmitted the job execution command, with the pre-stored address information of the external device. The functional unit switches the working mode of the image forming device, in accordance with the result of authentication and the function performing, to the corresponding job execution command.
