SUBSTANCE: computer-implemented method for displaying the desktop comprises the stages of: obtaining, according to geographic location preset by means of the terminal, the weather information corresponding to the geographic location, or obtaining, according to the geographic location where the terminal is located at present, the weather information corresponding to said geographic location; obtaining the theme file complying with the weather information from the pre-loaded theme package in accordance with the received information about the weather, wherein the theme file contains at least the desktop background image and at least one icon file adapted for using in the icons visualization on the desktop. The desktop background file contains a plurality of resources and the movement trajectories and the dynamic effects of displaying these resources, wherein said icon file contains at least the first icon file for the icons in the inactive state; and visualizing the terminal desktop background in accordance with said plurality of resources and movement trajectories and the dynamic effects of displaying the resources, so that the resources represent the display effects complying with the weather information, such as falling rain or snow, and visualizing the icons above the visualized desktop background, wherein the icons are visualized in the same way and with the same dynamic display effects or in a different way with the other dynamic display effects in relation to the desktop background visualization. The visualization stage comprises the stage at which, when the icon is in the inactive state, said icon is visualized in compliance with the first icon file, or when the instruction to activate an inactive icon is detected, the display effect of this icon in the inactive state is cancelled and the application corresponding to this icon is started.
