FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: bauxite processing waste obtained in the course of the Bayer process proceed by the conveyor device 13 from the transit point 12 into the reservoir 16, where aqueous suspension is prepared from it with the ratio S:L of from 1:2 to 1:5, wherein the pH is adjusted to between 7.2-12.2 by means of feeding the reagents from the reservoir 24. The suspended mineral agglomerates are at least partially deagglomerated in the device 20 equipped with a means for creating cavitation, e.g. the dissolver stirrer 22. The resulting mixture is separated in the device 26 into the iron-enriched fraction - high-quality iron ore 20 and at least one additional, preferably silicates-enriched fraction which is used directly or additionally treated.

EFFECT: obtained high-quality iron ore is not prone to dusting, has the high iron content and the low slag components content, due to which its transport and processing are facilitated.
