FIELD: enrichment of minerals.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to beneficiation of low-quality bauxite and can be used in production of aluminum. Method involves washing, crushing, drying, gravity separation with extraction of four fractions and subsequent electrostatic separation. Crushing is carried out to obtain particle size of 0.5 mm using a conical crusher in an air-vortex flow. Drying is carried out in a rotary furnace for 40 minutes at temperature of 750 °C. Electrostatic separation is carried out under voltage of 2,000 V, using different specific conductivity of SiO2 and Al2O3 of bauxite elements, under the influence of which there is separation into fractions with different specific electric conductivity. Silicon oxide with negative conductivity is attracted to the separator cylinder and then removed, and aluminum oxide with positive conductivity is separated into a selected sector.
EFFECT: method allows simplifying the process of processing low-quality bauxites and increasing its efficiency.
