FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: to calculate the signal-to-noise ratio in a dedicated room (DR) with the source of acoustic speech information (ASI), a spatially-distributed acoustic signal converter (SDC AS) is applied inside the DR of any shape and represented by an optical fiber with a measuring module connected to it. The transmitter of the measuring module emits measuring impulse signals with a period of T, and the receiver receives an acoustically modulated sequence of reflected measuring impulse signals from various K points of the DR identified by the return time of the reflected measuring impulse signals tK. The acoustic component of the received reflected measuring impulse signals from different K points of the DR with the ASI source is demodulated, the signal-to-noise ratios in them are calculated. A variational series of values of the signal-to-noise ratio is constructed, the senior term of the variational series is chosen to calculate the level of speech intelligibility.
EFFECT: reducing the time and improving the accuracy of calculating the level of speech intelligibility by using a spatially-distributed acoustic signal converter.
