FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: fiber optic gyroscope is a fiber ring interferometer consisting of a sensitive coil and an electronic information processing unit formed by an analog block and a digital electronics unit. The digital electronics unit includes an analog-to-digital converter, a programmable logic integrated circuit and a digital-to-analog converter, as well as the first and second feedback loops. And in the digital block the algorithm of auxiliary phase modulation between optical beams of the ring interferometer is realised, and the feedback loops provide linearity of the output characteristic. Auxiliary phase modulation is performed by changing the auxiliary modulation voltage codes in the digital unit. Using stepwise sawtoothed voltage to compensate for the Sagnac phase difference with phase amplitude of 2π radians.

EFFECT: expansion of dynamic range measurement of angular speeds of the fiber optic gyroscope.
