FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: video endoscope contains a matrix photodetector, a matrix photodetector lens, coaxial with its light-sensitive surface, a lighting device forming diverging light rays on the distal end of the video endoscope, unidirectional with the matrix photodetector lens optical axis along its central axis, and an image display device connected to the matrix photodetector output. A light filter with a variable optical density, gradually increasing from its central part to the periphery is located before the light-sensitive surface of the matrix photodetector. The optical density in the central filter region is close to zero, and is from 0.2 to 1.5 on the peripheral circumference.

EFFECT: application of this invention will compensate for the uneven field illumination for interior cylindrical volumes image.
