FIELD: technical physics.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to invention, components of color vector and intensiveness of radiation, reflected from surface being measured and standard, are measured. Then, components of color vector of surface being measured for removing individual features of spectral composition of lighting source and its intensiveness are corrected with consideration of value of measured components of standard color and values of measured values of light emission intensiveness and composite color vector of surface being measured is formed, which acts as identifier of color properties of surface - color hue and brightness of surface being measured. Surface color meter contains scanning unit, unit for measuring color vector with four rows of photo-receivers, while three rows of photo-receivers are meant for measuring color component and have color filters for 3 main colors, while fourth row of photo-receivers has no light filters and is meant for measuring intensiveness of light reflected from surface being measured and from standard. Measuring device also has block for generation of composite vector in 3 main colors.

EFFECT: identification of collection of color properties of surface invariantly relatively to lighting.
