FIELD: tobacco industry.
SUBSTANCE: multilayer combustible heat source for a smoking article comprises the combustible first layer containing carbon and the second layer in direct contact with the first layer; the second layer comprises carbon and at least one igniting additive, wherein the first layer and the second layer represent longitudinal concentric non-fibrous layers having an apparent density of not less than 0.6 g/cm3, and wherein the composition of the first layer differs from that of the second layer.
EFFECT: providing a combustible heat source for a smoking article which will give an acceptable aerosol during the initial smoke puffs, as well as during the last smoke puffs.
