FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining the geographic region of the growth of coffee beans is that caffeine and chlorogenic acid are extracted from the samples of roasted coffee beans, the isotopic composition of the carbon of the isolated components is determined by gas chromatography in combination with isotope mass spectrometry, the values obtained are presented in a two-dimensional coordinate system (δ13C caffeine from δ13C of chlorogenic acid) and determine the region of growth by comparison with the previously obtained regions of values characterising Africa, South and Central America.
EFFECT: development of a relatively simple method that allows to reliably determine the region of growth of coffee beans while reducing the duration of the analysis.
