SUBSTANCE: simple sulfone-containing polythioether having a fragment of the -A-CH2-CH2-S(O)2-CH2-CH2-A- (1), wherein: each A independently represents a moiety of the formula -S-R1-[-S-(CH2)p-O-(R2-O)m-(CH2)2-S-R1-]n-S- (2), where: each R1 independently contains C2-10 alkanediyl, C6-8 cycloalkanediyl, C6-10 alkanecycloalkanediyl, C5-8 heterocycloalkanediyl, or -[(-CHR3-)s-X-]q-(-CHR3-)r, where: s is an integer from 2 to 6; q is an integer from 1 to 5; r is an integer from 2 to 10; Each R3 independently contains hydrogen or methyl; and each X independently contains -O-, -S- and -NR5-, where R5 contains hydrogen or methyl; and each R2 independently contains C1-10 alkanediyl, C6-8 cycloalkanediyl, C6-14 alkanecycloalkanediyl, or -[(-CHR3-)s-X-]q-(-CHR3-)r- where s, q, r, R3 and X are as defined for R1; M is an integer from 0 to 50; N is an integer from 1 to 60; and p is an integer from 2 to 6. Also compositions used as an aerospace sealant containing the above simple sulfone-containing polythioether, and a hardener that is capable of reacting with the terminal groups of a simple sulphon-containing polythioether are disclosed. Method of preparation of simple sulfonated polythioethers is also described.
EFFECT: preparation of cured sealant compositions containing simple sulfone-containing polythioethers with better thermal stability.
