SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to maleimide-terminated sulphur-containing polymers, such as maleimide-terminal polythioesters and to sealant compositions containing same. Sulphur-containing maleimide adduct containing a polythioester maleimide adduct of Formula (8a), a polythioester maleimide adduct of Formula (8b) or a combination thereof is described: R6-S-R1-[-S-(CH2)p-O-(R2-O)m-(CH2)2-S-R1-]n-S-R6 (8a), {R6-S-R1-[-S-(CH2)p-O-(R2-O)m-(CH2)2-S-R1-]n-S-V’-}zB (8b), where each R1 is independently C2-10 alkanediyl, C6-8 cycloalkanediyl, C6-10 alkanecycloalkanediyl, C5-8 heterocycloalkanediyl and/or -[(-CHR3-)s-X-]q-(-CHR3-)r-, where s is an integer from 2 to 6; q is an integer from 1 to 5; r is an integer from 2 to 10; each R3 is independently selected from hydrogen and methyl; and each X is independently selected from -O-, -S- and -NR-, wherein R is selected from hydrogen and methyl; each R2 is independently C1-10 alkanediyl, C6-8 cycloalkanediyl, C6-14 alkanecycloalkanediyl and -[(-CHR3-)s-X-]q-(-CHR3-)r-, where s, q, r, R3 and X correspond to the definitions given for R1; m is an integer from 0 to 50; n is an integer from 1 to 60; p is an integer from 2 to 6; B is the core of the z-valent, vinyl-terminal polyfunctionalising agent B (-V)z, wherein z is an integer from 3 to 6; and each V is a group containing a group capable of reacting with thiol groups; and each -V'- is formed by the reaction of -V with a thiol; and each R6 contains 1-(4-(4-(3-yl-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)benzyl)phenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione group. Said adduct is also described, in which R6 contains a maleimide-terminal fragment, which is formed by the reaction of the thiol group and bismaleimide, wherein the bismaleimide comprises 1,1'-(methylenedi-4,1-phenylene)-bismaleimide, 2,4-dimaleimidotoluene, N, N'-1,3-phenylene dimaleimide, O-phenylene dimaleimide, N, N'-1,4-phenylene dimaleimide, 1,1'-(2-methyl-1,3-phenylene)bis(1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione), 1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diylbis(1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione), or a combination of any of the above. Also, sealing compositions containing said adducts are described.
EFFECT: technical result is the formation of cured sealants having improved tensile strength and elongation.
