Feed 6' of the first by-product is passed to a second desalting step through the suspension crystallization unit 7 to form a stream 8 of a second aqueous product having a reduced salt concentration relative to the concentration of stream 6' of the first by-product, and the second by-product stream 9 having an increased salt concentration relative to the concentration of the stream 6' of the first by-product. The desalination device further includes a static crystallization unit (10) or a second slurry crystallization unit having an inlet (92) in fluid communication with the outlet (91) of the suspension crystallization unit (7) and an outlet (121) for the stream (12) of the third water product, and release (131) for the third by-product stream (13).
EFFECT: reduction of the volume of the first by-product stream with increased salt concentration.
