METHOD FOR CORNEA PLASTICS ON LONG DATE AFTER RADIAL KERATOTOMY WITH PROGRESSIVE NON-UNIFORM CORNEAL FLATTENING Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61F9/00 A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2623645 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: femtosecond laser system is used to form three circular concentric intrastromal corneal tunnels at the following depth: peripheral 30%, medium 50%, internal 70% of the cornea thickness. The width of each tunnel is 300 µm, internal diameter is 8 mm, 6.5 mm and 5 mm respectively. After that, a femtolaser beam is used to make two diametrically opposed 300 mcm long cuts in the radial direction in the projection of keratotomy radial notches in each tunnel, starting at the tunnel depth and ending on the outer corneal surface. Cuts and tunnels are opened. A polypropylene thread is stretched in each tunnel, first, along the half of the tunnel from one cut to another, then along the remaining half to form a circle. At that, the thread in each tunnel is pulled starting with the cut, diametrically opposite to the cut in the previous tunnel. The knot is tightened from the middle tunnel under the keratoscope control. The knot is immersed into the cut. Similarly, the remaining knots are tightened, first in the peripheral tunnel, then in the inner one.

EFFECT: method allows to reduce progressive corneal flattening, hypermetropic refraction due to the most accurate and symmetrical location of sutures at the given diameter and depth, and their uniform tightening.
