FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: film comprises a thermoplastic composition containing rigid renewable polyester, and has a porous structure. To obtain such a structure a thermoplastic composition comprising a revolving polyester and polymeric additive that increases the impact strength, are extruded onto the surface to form a precursor film, wherein the additive that increases the impact strength, may be dispersed as discrete physical domains within a continuous matrix revolving polyester. Thereafter, the precursor film is stretched or drawn at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the polyester, i.e. using "cold drawn". The deforming force and longitudinal tensile of drawing process cause debonding in the matrix revolving polyester in areas adjacent to the discrete domains, which leads to the formation pore network adjacent to the discrete domains. The absorbent article comprising mentioned film, and a method of forming a breathable film are also described.
EFFECT: creating a breathable film formed from a composition revolving polyester having good mechanical properties.
