FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: film made of thermoplastic composition comprising at least one hard renewable polyester, at least one polymeric additive that increases the impact strength, and at least one phase boundary modifier. Impact resistance improving additive is polyolefin, it can be dispersed as discrete physical domains within a continuous renewable polyester matrix. Phase boundary modifier is silicone, polyester, alkylene glycol, alkanediol, amine oxide, fatty acid ester or a combination thereof. The absorbent article includes a substantially liquid-impermeable layer comprising the said film, and an absorbent inner part. The invention provides a film made from renewable polyester with low elastic modulus and high tensile elongation. The increase of deforming force and elongation cause violation of adhesion in the renewable polyester matrix in the areas adjacent to the discrete domains.
EFFECT: formation of a plurality of voids near the discrete domains, which will contribute to energy dissipation under load and increase the tensile elongation.
