SUBSTANCE: weak link for marine riser system comprises the first member and the second member that have a bore communicating with marine riser opening and a connecting means for releasable joint of said first member and said second member. The said connecting means is arranged to break at a predetermined tension force. Weak link has a pressure equalization mechanism designed to balance the axial forces, that act on said connecting means and are caused by influence of end plug of said marine riser system. Wherein said pressure equalization system comprises the first pressure equalization pig for transferring the load from pressure to said connection, and the second pressure equalization pig for transferring the load from pressure to said nipple. Moreover, when nipple and connection are completely connected to each other, said first and second pressure equalization pigs are located from each other at a distance greater than the diameter of bore of the first and second members.
