FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method for decoding video data comprises determining the first type for the current motion vector of the current video data block; determining the second type for the motion vector predictor - candidate of the block neighboring the current block; setting a variable to the first value indicating that the motion vector predictor - candidate is not available to be used as a motion vector predictor for the current motion vector, wherein the variable can be set either in the first value or in the second value, different from the first value indicating that the motion vector predictor - candidate is available to be used as a motion vector predictor for the current motion vector; determining whether the said first type differs from the said second type; and setting the variable to the second value after the initial setting the first variable in the first value, in response to determining, that the said first type is identical to the said second type; and decoding the current motion vector based on, at least, partially, the second value of this variable.

EFFECT: providing better compatibility with future versions of the video codec with multiple views or the three-dimensional video.
