SUBSTANCE: method comprises provision of a nonwoven base, that contains a plurality of fibers. At least some of the plurality of fibers comprise a plurality of fibrils extending outwardly from the surface of the fibers. Fibrils contain fatty ester, characterized by a melting point above 35°C. The method comprises incorporating a non-woven base into a formed absorbent product.

EFFECT: invention provides non-woven bases characterized by increased barrier properties for a flowable substance, the fibrils can provide a reduced permeability for a flowable substance, especially for liquid, in said fiber layer, as well as in a non-woven base as a whole.
