FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: detected diver's breath noise is separately filtered to isolate the inspiratory noise in the frequency band above 1 kHz, and to isolate the expiratory noise in the frequency band up to 500 Hz. Then, each filtered signal is detected. The received signal is smoothened, obtaining an envelope. By exceeding of the envelope level over the background, respiratory phases are determined. Duration of a respiratory phase is calculated as the time interval between the initial and final time of inspiration or expiration.
EFFECT: method allows to objectively determining the duration of inspiratory and expiratory phases in each breath cycle at each time of the diver staying under water due to separate filtration of respiratory noises.
