SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the methods of producing solketal-mixed isomers 2.2-dimethyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1.3-dioxolane and 2.2-dimethyl-5-hydroxymethyl-1.3-dioxolane-through the interaction of glycerol and acetone on the acid catalyst such as cation exchange resins or zeolites, and can be used in the production of oxygenates, improving operational properties of fuels for internal combustion engines. The process of producing zolketal is carried out by the interaction of glycerin and acetone with a heterogeneous acid catalyst, followed by separation of the reaction products by rectification into the initial glycerin, or alkali is added to the reaction products in the amount of not less than 0.02 wt % of the glycerol taken.
