FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: combined two-stage radiation treatment of patients with local prostate cancer, belonging to the group of high risk of disease progression. At the first stage, brachytherapy is performed. One day before brachytherapy, a single intraprostatic injection of 500 mg of 5-fluorouracil diluted with 20 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride is performed in the hypoechoic areas of the prostate tissue that are visualized by transrectal ultrasound. At the second stage, a course of remote radiation therapy is performed. At that, 500 mg of 5-fluorouracil diluted in 20 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride is injected on the day of the beginning and in the middle of the distance radiation therapy course into the hypoechoic areas of prostate tissue visualized by transrectal ultrasound and in to the right and left paraprostatic space.

EFFECT: method allows to improve the results of radiation treatment, to reduce the risk of prostate cancer recurrence, to prevent the development of complications of this treatment type, leads reduced terms of rehabilitation of this category of patients.
