METHOD OF SELECTING PATIENTS WITH RECURRENT PROSTATE CANCER AFTER LOW-DOSE BRACHYTHERAPY FOR TREATING TRANSRECTAL HIGH-INTENSITY FOCUSED ULTRASOUND Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B6/00 A61B8/00 A61B10/02 A61N7/02

Abstract RU 2735656 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely oncourology, and can be used for selecting patients with recurrent prostate cancer after low-dose brachytherapy for treating transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound. Patient's blood is biochemically analysed, prostate ultrasound, histoscanised, magnetic resonance tomography with contrast enhancement or positron emission computed tomography, osteoscintigraphy of the skeleton bones, uroflowmetry and morphological examination of prostate biopsy materials. Following criteria are used to select patients: failure to perform radical prostatectomy, low or moderate oncological risk of localized stages of prostate cancer, the absence of distant bone metastases, the length of the last brachytherapy session for more than 6 months, absence of pathological changes of rectal wall at its thickness less than 6 mm, absence in the prostate after brachytherapy of non-uniformly distributed hyperechoic grains of implants with acoustic effect of size more than 5 mm in diameter each, number of implant grains after brachytherapy located in peripheral area of prostate is less than 6, volume of gland to 50 cm3, maximum urination speed more than 15 ml/s, presence of residual urine less than 80 ml. If observing the patients characterized by these criteria, they are prescribed treatment by transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound.

EFFECT: method provides selection of patients with recurrent prostate cancer after low-dose brachytherapy for treating transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound due to the declared criteria.
