FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises formaton of metal coating on the surface of diamond powder particles and formation of polycrystalline diamond material from the diamond powder by influence of pressure and temperature, wherein synthetic diamond powder is used as diamond powder, containing intracrystalline metallic inclusions, which is subjected to heat treatment in a protective atmosphere at a temperature of metal inclusion liquefaction and extraction of the melt particles on the surface in the form of droplets, followed by cooling at ambient temperature and forming diamond powder particles of the discontinuous coating on the surface. The heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 1200-1600°C for 15-30 minutes.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance due to the large volume content of diamond particles and the possibility of their tighter compaction, heat resistance due to very low content of metallic inclusions in the material and strength.
