FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: polycrystalline diamonds of the "carbonado" type are sorted as a diamond-containing material. Samples of polycrystalline diamonds from the side opposite to the catalyst are ground by a layer of at least 0.2 mm and the amount of graphite on the ground surface is determined by quantitative X-ray phase analysis, for example by a diffractometer. After that, the samples are sorted into groups with a graphite content of 0.7-2.2; 2.3-4.0 and 4.1-5.5 wt %. Each group is used to make a specific instrument.
EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of reliable sorting of diamond-containing raw materials by the content of graphite.
