FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method for monitoring peatlands includes measuring the air temperature and humidity above the surface under study at two altitudes in the surface atmosphere layer and air pressure, and the fire hazard is judged by the ratio of the temperature increment to the humidity increment at different altitudes by the expression , where G is dimensionless coefficient, the value of which characterizes the degree of dryness and fire hazard of the active layer of the peatland; cp=1.0 kJ/(kg⋅°C) is the specific heat of air at constant pressure; p - atmospheric pressure; L - latent heat of vaporization with an error of not more than 1%; it can be assumed that L=2450 kJ/kg; t1 and e1 - temperature and partial pressure of water vapours at one altitude of the surface atmosphere layer; t2 and e2 - temperature and partial pressure of water vapours at the other altitude of the surface atmosphere layer.
EFFECT: preventing inflammation in fire hazardous areas.
