FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of active location with parametric radiation mode (PRM) and can be used to obtain information when profiling bottom sediments, which will allow to obtain a new amount of primary data on the structure of the seabed due to processing of amplitude and phase features of echo signals. In the method of profiling the structure of bottom sediments, a receiving channel for processing phase features of echo signals is successively performed: band-pass filtering, gating, amplification-limiting of electric signals with frequencies F12=|f1-f2|, F13=|f1-f3|, F23=|f2-f3|, as well as multiplication of their frequencies by corresponding coefficients, that is bringing them to one frequency f1=F23/(|1/a-1/b|), f1=F13/(|1-1/b|), … f1=F12/(|1-1/a|) with preservation of phase information on objects and boundaries; displaying, recording and documenting in the equipment the obtained distributions of changes in the phases of acoustic contacts during vertical probing - phase diagrams, displaying for different distances – z-axis – change in acoustic impedances of sets of scatterers and reflecting objects distributed in aqueous medium, as well as bottom and layers of bottom sediments of water body under moving vessel-carrier of equipment.
EFFECT: processing not only amplitude but also phase features of echo signals of different frequencies, which leads to possibility of classification of detected boundaries of both bottom and layers of bottom sediments due to registration of such informative parameter as acoustic resistance of boundaries.
