FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to acoustic methods of active location, which are based on the double Doppler effect, according to which there is a shift in the frequency of waves when they are reflected from moving bodies. Field of application – hydroacoustics, oceanology. In the emitting path of the device, which implements the modes of both Doppler measurements and monostatic echo sounding, in accordance with the proposed method, several parametric radiating antennas (PRA) are used, which provide formation of differential frequency signals (DFS) with high directivity in a wide frequency band. In acoustic Doppler method of profiling of currents in water medium, measurements are carried out on several working signals of difference frequency, which enables to select the required speed sensitivity, increase the accuracy of determining the speed of the carrier vessel both relative to the bottom and relative to the layered water medium.
EFFECT: comparison of Doppler shifts for different depths on working signals between each other makes it possible to additionally obtain updated data on distribution of directions and values of velocities of sea currents in sound-scattering layers of water medium by depth, id est to investigate in pulse mode fine structure of space-time characteristics of sea currents velocity field.
