FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: indicator is the basis (for example, a natural fabric), with a water-glycerol solution applied thereto (in proportion 1:1) containing phenolphthalein previously dissolved in 95% of ethyl alcohol from 5 to 21 wt %. The ratio of phenolphthalein and the water-glycerol solution is taken from 1.5 to 2.5 to 1, respectively.

EFFECT: indicator is fixed on a special clothing in a place that is convenient for personnel to visually assess the colour change of the indicator, when the concentration of ammonia is increased.
