FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of obtaining and processing images of Earth remote sensing (RES) distorted by a turbulent atmosphere. The method includes obtaining, in a wide field of view, one spectrally filtered short-exposure image of the RES spatially noninvariant to atmospheric distortions, statistical processing of its isoplanatic sub-images and their fragments, determining the instantaneous optical transfer functions of the atmosphere system - the RES telescope for each isoplanatic region of each sub-image of the registered RES. The obtained data are used for the subsequent spatial filtration of the corresponding sub-images and for combining the results of the filtration of the sub-images in one frame for the reconstruction of the diffraction-limited object of the remote Earth sensing - extended non-isoplanatic portion of the probed Earth surface - undistorted by the atmosphere.
EFFECT: simplifying and accelerating the process of obtaining images and improving the quality of images.
