SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing a mixture of raw materials and its mechanical alloying. The starting mixture contains a metal matrix material selected from the series comprising aluminium, copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, tin, platinum, gold, silver and their alloys, nanodiamond particles and a carbide-forming element from the series comprising silicon, titanium, chromium and tungsten. The volume of the metal matrix material is 0.05-0.9 of the total volume of the raw material mixture. In mechanical alloying, a chemical reaction is provided between nanodiamond particles and the said carbide-forming chemical element in the metal matrix material and the formation of reinforcing nanoparticles of 2-100 nm in size from the carbides of the said carbide-forming elements.
