SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an isolated nucleotide sequence comprising a premature stop codon and encoding a truncated protein of sunflower oleate desaturase, as well as to a plant and a sunflower seed containing it. A truncated protein of sunflower oleate desaturase is also disclosed, which has reduced enzymatic activity compared to the enzymatic activity of the wild-type sunflower oleate desaturase protein. The invention also relates to a method for production of a sunflower plant capable of producing a seed having an oleic acid content of 87.5 to 93.3% based on the total percentage of fatty acids in the seed, as well as to a method for production of oil having an oleic acid content of 87.5 to 93.3% based on the total percentage of fatty acids in the oil.
EFFECT: invention allows to efficiently obtain a seed with oleic acid content of 87,5 to 93,3 percent based on the total percentage of fatty acids in the seed.
