SUBSTANCE: process involves the introduction of a methanol feedstock and a methyl acetate feedstock with a catalyst composition in the reaction zone at a temperature of from 200 to 260°C, to produce acetic acid and dimethyl ether, and wherein said catalyst composition comprises a zeolite which comprises a 2-dimensional channel system comprising at least one channel formed by 10-membered rings and has a silica-alumina molar ratio of at least 22:1.
EFFECT: extended service life in the process of co-production of acetic acid and dimethyl ether from a mixture of methanol and methyl acetate.
