FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to an advanced method for producing acetic acid and dimethyl ester, wherein methanol and methyl acetate react with a catalyst composition at a temperature falling within the range of 140 to 250°C to produce acetic acid and dimethyl ester, and wherein the above catalyst composition contains ceolite, which contains a 2-merous passage system containing at least one passage formed by a 10-merous ring. The effectiveness of the method increases by using the 2-merous passage system containing at least one passage formed by the 10-merous ring.
EFFECT: developing the advanced method for producing acetic acid and dimethyl ester.
