FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: rutin-containing herbal extract in the form of crude sludge water, ethanol or aqueous-alcoholic extracts of Uncaria elliptica is provided; the rutin-containing herbal extract is dissolved in methanol or ethanol to obtaining solution of crude rutin extract, where the extract contains 90-95 wt % of rutin and 100-300 ppm of iron. The volume of the crude rutin extract solution to obtain a concentrate; a mixture is prepared by adding ascorbic or tartaric acid in an amount of 1-15 wt % with respect to the rutin-containing plant extract, methanol or n-butanol, and optionally water, wherein the said extract is 8-30% of the total mixture. The mixture is allowed to form a precipitate and the precipitate is separated to produce a rutine-enriched extract that contains less than 20 ppm of iron.

EFFECT: new effective method to purify the rutin extract of Uncaria elliptica and a new extract of this plant.
